Paper Keepsake Box

by Kaarina Talvila

Made from handmade Nepalese lokta paper, this box is beautifully delicate while still being sturdy.  The window is of Japanese chiyogami, developed in the Edo Period (1603-1867) to emulate the fashionable kimono fabrics of that time.  Silk-screened by hand, each colour is printed separately, requiring precise registration.
