Silk Scarf - Iron

by Mary Downe

This gorgeous piece by Mary Downe is made from silk, naturally dyed with iron.  Large enough to be worn as a light shawl, it can also be wadded up into a heavier scarf.  Copper sequins stitched on with white thread add texture and shine.

2.5 feet wide, 7.5 feet long.

Handwash cold, cool iron.

Mary Downe's background is as a painter (oil on canvas) and she approaches her fabric pieces as she would a painting. Each of her textile pieces are unique.  She uses natural dyes including indigo, rust, persimmon, pomegranate, logwood and cochineal
